Heather Lucas, LCSW

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over a decade of experience helping individuals navigate life’s challenges. My therapeutic approach is eclectic and tailored to the unique needs of each person I work with. I believe that even in our most difficult moments, there’s always potential for healing, growth, and a silver lining.

Everyone deserves a life filled with meaning, health, and joy—but sometimes we need support to get there. If you’re feeling uncertain about what you’re going through or don’t feel like you fit into any particular “box,” you’re not alone. I’m here to walk alongside you with curiosity, compassion, and a commitment to finding what works best for your healing journey.

I have specialized training in perinatal mental health and years of experience supporting parents through pregnancy and the postpartum period—a season I’m deeply passionate about. I work with individuals experiencing postpartum anxiety, depression, OCD, and psychosis, and I offer a warm, nonjudgmental space to process, heal, and find steadiness. Parenthood can be both beautiful and overwhelming, and I’m here as a steady presence to help you navigate it with care and confidence.

I also specialize in supporting individuals living with bipolar disorder. I understand the complexities of mood instability and take a compassionate, structured, and collaborative approach. Whether you’re newly diagnosed or have been navigating bipolar disorder for years, I help you build insight, develop tools for stability, and work toward a fulfilling and balanced life.

In addition, I have extensive experience working with individuals navigating ADHD, autism, and anxiety. I deeply value the unique strengths each client brings to therapy and understand how these experiences can shape relationships, self-esteem, and daily life. I offer a supportive, strengths-based environment where you can feel seen, understood, and empowered to grow.

My work is integrative and client-centered, blending evidence-based approaches to fit your specific needs. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help shift unhelpful thought patterns, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to build emotional regulation skills, and Solution-Focused Therapy to highlight your strengths and set achievable goals. I also incorporate Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness, and attachment-based work to support deeper healing and self-awareness.

At the heart of my work is the belief that therapy should feel like a place where you’re supported, challenged, and truly understood. I take the time to get to know your story so we can find the tools and insights that will help you reconnect with yourself and move forward with more clarity and confidence. I look forward to walking alongside you.

About Heather

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from West Virginia University in 2011 and moved to the Phoenix area in 2012. In 2016, I completed my Master’s in Social Work at Arizona State University. Over the years, I’ve gained experience in a variety of settings, which has shaped my well-rounded approach and informed the unique specialties I bring to my practice. If you have any questions about my background or experience, I’m always happy to share more.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time in nature and exploring the many beautiful and diverse landscapes Arizona has to offer. The desert, in particular, holds a special place in my heart—its quiet strength and resilience inspired the foundation of my practice. I also love photography, being a mom, and caring for our family dog. These parts of my life bring balance and joy to my work as a therapist.
